Old Frisco line from Pierce City, MO to Carthage, MO

I scouted the old Frisco line from Pierce City to Carthage, MO. Where it comes off of the MNA railroad by River Street in Carthage, it is still live down to Fairview road. There are lumber and other cars stored on the double siding between the 13th street crossing down to Fairview. Just north of Fairview, the tracks have been cut; and the crossing on Fairview paved over. MNA must have leased this stretch of track, as the signal boxes have MNA on them. Further out of Carthage towards Fir road, the crossing is “exempt”, down towards Reeds into Sarcoxie, several farmers have fenced in the track where it crosses county roads. The track is grown over with vegetation and the county road crossings have been paved over. Would be impossible to traverse either on a rail bike or a speeder. In Sarcoxie, it is in a little bit better shape, south of Sarcoxie towards Wentworth, the vegetation is not so thick on the track as it parallels MO State Hwy 37. County road crossings have been paved over. Just north of where 37 turns east in Pierce City, they have taken out a small trestle, and cut the line there. They did have an “exempt” sign on the 37 crossing, but it has been taken down and the tracks paved over and cut there.
