Hi Kevin,
Your story about these gladhands is pretty convincing. Probably going to check them out too. I have read an article somewhere, a long time ago, about such a system, but that was all home made, not like this product. At the time that seemed like a lot of work, but this looks like a feasable alternative. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for all the good work to making garden railways such good fun. I have your book on basics, and you briefly mention using pvc conduit as track bed. I see that you haved also used it on your own railroad. I intend doing that. Can you offer advice on diameters to use? Same for straights as for, say, 10 ft curves? And, how do you broaden the base for a passing siding or two, or double tracks? More detail is badly wanted, as pvc seems to answer all the problems of moisture damage, among others.
