Sometimes, it’s possible to get a bit impatient in this modern age of email and on-line internet sales. So this isn’t really a complaint, but I do wonder what others have experienced.
Back in late August, I sent an order to Old Line Graphics, the venerable source of carcards and other operations paperwork. Since then, I’ve not received my order, but according to my latest bank statement received yesterday, neither has my check been cashed.
OLG has a website at http://oldlinegraphics.com/ and also is listed in the latest version of Tony Koester’s “Realistic Model Railroad Operation.” Both sources provide an email address, oldlinegraphics@erols.com. Somewhere, I also came up with a phone number for them.
I started wondering what happened with my order a couple of weeks ago, so I sent an email inquiry, without receiving any reply. There was also no bounce message, so I presume the OLG Erols account is still active.
I guess what I’m wondering is if others have had the same experience. Am I being a bit impatient? Was something I ordered out of stock and in need of reprinting, something which I can see happening for a month or two, but which after 4 months seems a bit implausible?
I hesistate to stop payment on my check if it is a simple back order that is keeping my shipment from being sent. However, by February the check will be six months old and my bank may not honor it, as I recall that checks over six months old often are not cashed as they are assumed lost. I am considering calling the phone number I came up with, but I don’t want to sound impatient, either, as I understand that OLG may be like many model railroad suppliers in being a small outfit with limited resources. Thus, I’m wondering if others have received orders recently in timely fashion from OLG or did my check simply get lost in the mail on the way to them?
