old magazines

I’ve recently come into possession of a couple hundred Model Railroader magazines and Railroad Model Craftsman magazines from the '70’s and '80’s. Are these things worth anything to anybody?

Thanks, JC

I usually see these at train shows for 50 cents to $1 per issue, sometimes discounts for whole years - I picked up 1968-1975 complete MR because the guy gave me a deal I couldn’t refuse - and he didn’t want to carry them back home only to bring them to the NEXT show. I see them on eBay but never bid, even with a completely fair shipping amount you end up paying $3+ per issue.
I still have a few holes in my collection, if you don’t want them, I might be interested.

We couldn’t even give away old magazines that were piled up at our club, and had to chuck them into the dumpster to make room for more magazines. After a lot of discussion of the matter, we decided that there was no reason to keep any magazine older than 10 years because most of the builders and sellers that advertised then have gone out of business, the products advertised are no longer available, technological advances have made most modeling techniques outdated, and storing shelves full of magazines is a fire hazard.

I visited the Pasaden MRR club a couple times. They had the hugest collection of MR ever - I don’t recall if it was the complete collection since the first issue or not, but it was certainly huge!!!

if you are going to be giving them away and paying the postage I will take some… LOL
