Old Model Railroad Kits

Hi,

I went to a local flea market and found a few model railroad items. One of them was a kit from a company called “Model Hobbies,” and the side of the box says “All Wood Kit. No 545 HO Yard Accessories 5 Buildings $3.25”.

The kit came with everything, but the directions on how to put the buildings together. They look really easy, and i won’t really need them. They will look really nice, and it will look great on my layout.

My question for anyone is whether anyone has ever heard of this company or history of these kits. When I did a Google search of them, all I found (buried in an article on O-scale) that they were from the 1950’s.

Thanks for your help.

All I can tell you,is they were around from the 50’s through the late 70’s. Good luck with your build. mike h.

Try the HO Seeker website.

I tried searching with a different search engine and did not do any better.

You might contact The Kalmbach Memorial Library. They can do a internal search but it will take time. There are only two paid employees. They do have volunteers who help out. The NMRA is slow on email and telephone also.

A few years ago they did some searches for me for a fee.

They apparently were in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Instructions for two kits, unfortunately not the one you have, can be found at the following site: http://www.hoseeker.net/miscdiagrams.html Look under the Miscellaneous Accessory tab.

They also made great ballast back in the day. a wide assortment of colors and sizes, scale coal, ballast cement, etc.
