what is the oldest model railroader magazine you own. personally i own july 1955
I am half expecting Andy or someone in MR to come here and say they own the first issue ever printed.
I think there are a few 50-60’s issues in my house while my family have issues that may reach back to the war years.
I’ve got a couple from around the 1945-50 era, that a former co-worker gave me a few months ago.
I have a few going back to the early 70’s; I’d have to really check at the house since I am at work now. I think it was 1973 issues, and that was when my dad and I were really big into our first layout.
Thanks,
Ryan
1934
The first that I have is Jan 1963 (my dad’s collection).
1940, I think it’s the may issue.
Enjoy

I think the oldest is the one I picked up at a swap meet for the month and year I was born . . . July, 1953. [:O]
1937, I think.
1952, I believe…Jan. issue. Have several from the 70s and early 80s, but really started reading in the early 90s.
The February issue, 1963.
I have a few from 1947, some from the 50’s and 60’s. Some well written articles and photography.

Oldest I have is February 2005. I had many going back to early 90’s, plus a couple 80’s mags.
Cut them up, scanned in articles I couldn’t live without. It’s way easier to access the articles on my harddrive than they were in MR.
I’m tempted to do the same with MR planning and Great MR’s, but there’s virtually no ads in those things, so they’re basically solid “meat”. May just leave them as they are. Keeping 2 issues per year isn’t as bad as 12 MR’s per year.
Living on the trim side of life now. It’s the best!
January 1946 is the start of my collection that runs to the March 2005 issue (just recieved in mail yesterday).
I’ve only been in the hobby for a few years so mine aren’t very old.
July 1946. The cover story was by John Allen
