Not sure if I read you right brother railroader, but I think you’ll find that 100% of us here on the forum will agree with you… Not to be rude, but it’s kind of like saying that you like breathing air and asking the rest of us if we do too.

Looks like he just posts whatever pops into his head, whether it actually means anything or not.
I like the older loco’s in steam and diesel. But I do also have some of the DCC ready loco’s to. Most of the older diesel & steam I own are: Athearn BB, Atlas, Bachmann, Mantua, AHM/Rivarossi, Aristocraft, Bowser, and MDC. The newer diesel & steam: Spectrum, Athearn RTR, Athearn Genesis, Proto 2000, Atlas, Stewart, and Rivarossi. I like them all, old and newer.
Yes,…I think we can all agree that trains are cool. Thats kind of why we’re here. [8D]
The sun is bright
The trains are cool
And the moon is full.

I dunno…My new deisels run WAY better than my old ones did, and I sure hope any new steam I buy runs better than what I have now.
guy’s don’t hold back tell me how you realy feel
I seen some older bowser and was just checking if I was the only one that liked to find the antique ones its a hard choice old and cool or new and run’s good

i agree tracklayer
and you guys are chalk full of ideas NOT
nice…
I’m sorry Budliner. I misunderstood what you were trying to say at first.
I personally prefer the newer locos. I’ve tried to revive older ones without much success.

I guess I was not clear what you were asking either.
I like the newer loco’s because there is less work involved to get them to work properly. The old ones need new motors alot of times and they pretty much always need the flanges turned down. Then theres the DCC conversion. The newer ones you just tweak a little, fit a decoder and paint & weather.
I don’t like old or new…
I’m a big fan of the older-technology steamers. In the past year, I’ve acquired 8 “new” steamers, of which only one, a Spectrum Heavy 4-8-2, was a ready-to-run plastic one. The rest are Bowser (1), Mantua (2), and Roundhouse/MDC (4) Two of the MDC kits are still under construction. All run very smoothly (or will when break-in is complete), and pull well. With Bowser’s recent price reduction on their kits, they are probably the best deal out there, and the only one I know of that is still in current production.
You can get the old-style stuff to run very well, with care in building. And, you can learn a lot in the process. When you’re done, you can really say, “I built that!”
It can also be good for a few chuckles: When I showed my new kit for the Bowser USRA Light 4-6-2 to one of my grown sons, he just looked at the dozens of tiny screws, valve gear rivets, and miscellaneous parts, shook his head and said, “That’s just insane, Dad!” He was amazed a week later when I showed him the completed locomotive… [:D]
Bowser’s recent price reduction
