Old Postcard - Station

I found this while going through some old papers. The caption is “Railway Station Weirs Lake Winnipesaukee NH” The only other info is "Place stamp here - United States & Canada 1c! It appears to be a ten wheeler with two front end cars and seven coaches. To the left of the shelter is a small steamboat, and to the right is a horse & buggy on the dirt road. Hope this can be of some use or interest to someone.[:)]

Looks like a busy small town junction. I wonder what the telltale on the subsidiary line was for? A bridge underpass perhaps? These old images appeal to my historian persona. Thanks for sharing.

I think that’s actually a street car overhead wire support. You can kind of see the track if you look below it. Those old postcards were so heavily retouched it’s hard to tell but it sure is a nice picture of an idylic New England summer day.

This may be what it looks like today. The rail line in Weirs Beach, New Hampshire, is still visible here as it runs along the lake.

Excursion ferries still run out of the pier next to the rail line.

As Mr B.'s picture shows, Wiers Beach is a popular spot for bikers on the week before Father’s Day.
