Old Rivarossi Couplers

I checked the policy page and I hope that this post is acceptable.

I am in need of old Rivarossi/AHM passenger car and passenger locomotive couplers, the horn-hook kind, ones that have an end that slips into a place on the truck and snaps it, the end looking like a two-tined fork with a curve on the tines. There is also a little plastic spring thing on this end.

There are several lengths, some are about an inch long and go on E units, for example, and some are about an inch and a quarter or so and go on RPOs I believe, and some are about one and five-eights long and are used on Riv heavyweight cars.

I have some that are used on lightweight streamlined cars; these have a different end with a square hole-I don’t need those.

I was wondering if anyone has a pile of these in a box from when they upgraded to other couplers and would be interested in selling them? I know I have a pile of horn-hook couplers for freight cars, but not from Riv passenger cars.

I am not sure how to post private messages, but this would be the way to respond I believe.

Please let me know…

Try contacting Con Cor. They still use these, or some like them. McHenery makes Knuckles of this kind, there may be some horn Hooks on there as well.

Private Maesseges can be sent using the PM button below each person;'s post. You can check them by clicking on the Private Messege link on the top of the Forum page

Thanks, I will try Con-Cor. The McHenry ones have the end with knuckle couplers but no horn-hook couplers.

And here I thought that PM icon meant it was after noon. [:-^]

Those old Rivarossi (and IHC) horn-hooks have been replaced by McHenry’s knuckle types that plug into-place. You may have to replace. Horn-hooks went out with Saddle Shoes.

Other than that, Kadee #36-46’s with Jaybee coupler mounting pads.

Those Talgo trucks were always a problem
