I used to live in Pasadena (CA) and the rental house we were in abutted what looked to be a very old RR line of some sort. I think electrification may have been involved, because if you look at where the ROW runs, there is an ancient, rusted-out power substation (obviously not in service) abutting the ROW. Since the installation of the “Gold Line” light-rail service as far as (I believe) Arcadia involved Pasadena, and was being extended at the time, I was curious why this particular ROW was not considered. Anyhow, can anyone identify what RR line or ROW this was? If you are familiar with Pasadena, the area I’m describing is between Walnut Street and Locust Street. The ROW in question runs E-W between those streets. A few blocks later (to the E), the ROW veers to the SE, paralleling Walnut Street (which breaks off from Foothill Blvd and is no longer a main arterial). The substation in question is about a quarter of a mile SE, very close to a present-day Von’s grocery and a VW car dealership kitty-corner from that. Which RR was this, and how far E did it go?
