I was reading a few old posts about ppl not wanting to be around when a train derails…from experience no you dont want to be around … in january a train derailed & whiped out my home… i will leave out the name of the railroad co as they were more than wonderful to us … it was 305 pm and raining when a 122 car train carring coal derailed we were told it was a broken axel … what ever the reason it happened it felt like an earth quake hit my house moved a good 3 ft from the vibrating of the ground … on the north side of the tracks was 2 propaine tanks for the track heaters used to melt ice they had just been filled that morning … when the train went down it hit & gashed open 1 tank shooting it in the air it sprayed gas all over the top of my home & proceded to land on the other tand gashing it & sending it 75 ft into my driveway for it to act as a blow torch pointed directly at the corner of my home … it took 9 min to destroy a 3 bdr 2 bath home 2 cars 1 truck & a yard full of childrens toys … we got out alive no one hurt not even the firemen it took 4 fire depts & 500,000 gallons or more of water plus foam to contain the fire we lost everything … for all of you who are near to tracks or go looking for derailments trying to catch them on film please i urge you to stay safe this was one of the nastiest derailments this year 22 of those 122 cars were smashed & stacked in an area about 40 ft long cars on top of cars cars smashed to smitherieenes … for those of you who drive the train or stop the train my prayers are with you all each & every day … may god or any higher beeing you pray to be with you all each & every day …
