Old wooden box cars

Hi All,

Would anybody happen to have a scale drawing of a late 19th / early 20th century wooden box car? I would like to scratch build one in 1:22.5 scale but am not having any luck in locating the required reference. If you have a file you could share pm me and I can provide my email.

Thanks,

Tom

The internet is finally becoming a useful research tool, if you know where to look.

Go here:

http://www.archive.org/

Do a simple search for “car builders dictionary”. Download all eight volumes that pop up, and you’ll be in car plan heaven (and likely, car plan overload!).

Thank you, thank you, thank you. [bow] [bow] [bow]

Thanks for the info… I have never seen these. I did find an interesting reference, believe it is called the American Railroad Journal on google books. I’m on vacation this week and don’t have my laptop so I can’t say for sure if that’s the name.

Really nice stuff in there, even had some track plans from different locals. Would make for nice Layout design elements.

Any time! Hope you found something of use in all of that! (I know I have: I’ve already scratched two boxcars, a caboose and two gons out of plans I found in the CBDs!)
