I have an old f9 that is rear wheel drive only. my problem is the rubber bands on the rear wheels keep breaking or coming off. Its such a good running engine I hate to retire it. I changed the rear wheels to solid ones but now wont pull many cars without spinning esp on small grades. any suggestions. thanks Dave
I’m guessing your F9 is a Bachmann, based on your description. You have two options for getting tires for it. One is you can get another F9 off eBay to use for parts (they sell pretty cheaply). Two is you can buy a pack of Stewart Products traction tires here:
thanks darth I checked and of course they are on back order. time for ebay. thanks again . Dave
A company named Stewart Products sells replacement traction tires for both steam and diesel engines, and a traction tire tool.
Walthers catalog number for the diesel traction tire assortment is 683-505 for 20 tires.
The traction tire tool is 683-504, and includes 10 diesel traction tires.
That catalog number was replaced by 192-505 and it’s out of stock, backordered, shipment unknown.
The tool under #638-504 is now under 192-504. It is available, price $11.95 from Calumet Trains LLC
thanks Jeff I’ll order it tonight. Dave
