older rivarossi re-motoring?

I have a older rivarossi 0-4-0 with a slope back tender, pretty high stack, no valve gear.I would love to get this “cute” switcher running again, either with a replacement motor that is the same as the original, or,if possible,a motor upgrade.Any suggestions as to who could handle this?

I have a motor that would fit, but is the original really trashed, or just in need of brushes & a tuneup?

I think that the windings burned up.It ran for a few feet, then just sat there and smoked

That’s never good. Is the motor the newer can style, or the older square motor?

How are the wheel flanges? I’ve got a couple of Rivarossis that I got from my father-in-law. The flanges are so big that I can’t run them, even on code 100 track. On the other hand, I’ve also got a Rivarossi 0-4-0 that has standard-sized flanges, so you may be OK.

If you can post a picture, preferably with the shell off, someone may be able to identify the right replacement motor.

MisterBeasley You must be glad that hockey seasons back. I’m a little surprised that I did’nt have a problem with the flange size on my code 100 track.I have had that problem with some of my old AHM and Rivarossi, but not with this 0-4-0. I know that it ts a fairly old engine…it does’nt look like any of the other 0-4-0s or 0-6-0s that I have. Can’t post a picture untill I learn how to use this Mac OX.It’s still all greek to me…hell,I feel good just being able to get on the internet. The motor just looks like a smaller version of the motors they used in thier other engines…round, but not a can.
