Olympia Logging Series: Part 12 - Backdrop painting

Wow!
Thank you.

that’s cool I really gonna try that

WOW!! Looks great Jay. I’m going to try that on my backdrop, which is currently sky blue!

Jay makes it look so easy. He is a true artist.

Great ideas Jay. That misty evergreen forest look adds a lot of realism to the entire layout…sweet. You gave me some great ideas for my new layout, thanks.

That was a great training video. I didn’t have a clue it was that easy to do a great looking backdrop.

Very cool. Never would have thought of doing it that way. Thanks for a great lesson.

Neat! The effect is very good, but it doesn’t look to hard to copy your technique. Thanks.

Looks so easy to do! Now if only I had a home layout to try it on.

Neat, I’ve been using a verity of brushes, pointed, round, flat, and flat. Also using,(yes it works) Home Depot sample size wall paints, but let it thicken
a little to get raised texture. Like this template ideal and will give it a try.

Jay thank you, it’s always so relaxing to watch your backdrop-painting lessons! Hope you get to show us more backdrops soon!

Jay: Outstanding job! In the rest of the Series parts, I had been noticing the backdrop and wondered “How did they do that?” Airbrushing will be a new media for me, after 49 years at this; but, I’m definitely going to try it! Thanks for this very informative walk through.

I can’t wait to try this technique. I hope Jay will tackle some dry country backdrops for MR Video Plus. Colorado mountains and high desert would make great subjects for backdrop lessons.

Great video Jay! Watched it first time when the layout was being built and just finished watching again as I’m wanting to use a similar template on a portion of mine that will be rolling hills for Shawnee National Forest. What suggestions do you have for using a deciduous tree template?
