Olympia Logging Series: Part 14 - Building a skid shack, 2
Hi, are you going to use both skid shacks ? nice kit , but why not do inside of shack and lights ? Les
Ben, great job on the skid shed. Hope to see more of your skills in the future.
Great work by the entire team, especially Ben for presentation and Jenny for editing.
Nice job Les, I did the same kit in “S” a few years ago for a friends layout. I like the use of the grimy black paint, and I even go as far as edging the the top and underside of the roof with the grimy black prior to installing the tar paper. I was quite interested in the fact that you used white glue vs wood glue. I use Tite Bond II which I found to be somewhat tackier than Elmer’s, and set in about 10 minutes. Also, despite the trim boards having an adhesive backing, I always apply dabs of wood glue with the micro brushes. I found that if you don’t, over time the trim can start to peel, especially if your train room has frequesnt temperature and humidity changes during the year. Look forward to your next venture.
I noticed that you put your wood glue on the bottom of a plastic cup. I have found that gatorade caps do a good job. They are small enough to fit in you hand to get more glue and because of the plastic used inside the cap, when the glue dries, you can pop the dried glue
off and reuse the cap again.
