OMG, it's going to snow in August - I actually did some modelling today

Beginnign of July I picked up an Atlas trackside shed kit, can never have too many little shacks scattered along the railroad in key places, like yards.

“Molded in realistic railroad colors” it says. Well, if you happen to model a railroad that painted its structures in a bight orangish yellow and the trim a bright reddish brown color, you’re in luck, you cna just assemble this and be done. (yes, I knew about this BEFORE buying it) Well, my railroad didn;t use such garish colors, so today I painted it. Yeah, I accomplished a lot. Didn;t even finish the painting - I just did all the side walls and the door in cream (Depot Buff), 3 coats. Tomorrow I will do the battens plus the lower 1/3 of the walls and the window trim in brown. I also painted the insides of all the wall with some cheap black craft paint to make the walls more opaque, not that I’m planning to light this one.

I AM taking pictures of each step, so for once I will have a photo essay of progress. Not that this is any complex kit or anything, on the contrary, this is an absolute beginner’s kit, super easy to put together and keep square, even withotu usign the giant molded base.

You must live in Calgary eh? When I lived there a few years back it snowed every month, and I mean snow, lots of it but it only lasted a couple of days (in the summer)

Keep us in touch with photos, sounds great.

It snowed where i’m at too. I put in about 5 summertime hours working on the railroad.

I THOUGHT i saw snow flakes instead of rain out there!!!

Randy…you make us so proud to be modelers!!!

I haven’t done a kit in over a year.

I usually only do them during the long winter months in front of the TV when it gets so dark so early.

I have a kit with not just one shed/shanty, but with 3!!!

Maybe it will be the first the attack this winter?

Psot pics if you can.
