Better move away! That engine is getting close:

Heading up toward town:

It’s a long haul getting up here, but the kitties can get 'er done:

Looking good Brent. Those are 2 good looking “kitties” you have there. Better than plain old “Black and White”.

I run G gauge and HO. I kind of regret not going to O scale when I see how much more you can do in the same space ( as G ). I wanted to know what is the base for the track. It looks like ceiling tile in the picture or homosote? do you apply ballast next over it? thanks, Joe

You are correct that is ceiling tile. If I had to do it over again I would have used soundstop. Between the track and ceiling tile I am installing either carpet padding (stuff that goes under area rugs) or foam subroadbed (curves). Then I will ballast after that.

It’s not too late…[(-D] Kidding. Looks amazing! Great Job!

88 - Nice tour, B. Fun to watch the train snake thru your creation.

Thats cool, thanks for sharing your layout in progress pics. I’d shure have fun running steam locos on your layout.[:D]

Brent, you amaze me with all the progress and levels you have done. Great job.

Very Nice!

Great Job !!!

WOW! Chief will help you tear it all down and install the soundstop. Couldn’t take but a few weeks of three guys working around the clock.[tup].

What’s soundstop?

Why not stick with the ceiling tile?

Looking good Brent! Just the other day I was wondering when we’d see more pics. I’m still trying to understand your track plan to see what I can steal for my own layout. How did you make the girder bridge?

don

Soundstop is another version of homasote. The ceiling tiles created a LOT of dust when cutting, even with a utility knife, and I had a hard time breathing when working with it. I have worked with homasote before and find it holds a cut edge much better than the ceiling tiles.

The girder bridge was made using an aluminum channel that was leftover from doing a shower door installation from our master bathroom remodel. It isn’t done yet, need to add some plastruct details, paint, and redo the piers.

What do you want to know about the plan? I’ll try to answer what I can, or take pics to help answer your questions.

Brent, I love those big cats crossing that Single Span, three panel WARREN TRUSS BRIDGE. [tup][tup]

or is that a Pratt, Howe, Multiple Kingpost, Queenpost, Smith, Partridge, or Childs Truss. [%-)][%-)][%-)][%-)][:-^]

I had a neighbor once named Warren Truss…
