One more air brush question on pashe H

well its time to use my new pashe H that came with 3 tips small =1 line, med =3 line, large =5 lines. the line thing is each tip set has fine little lines engraved to tell em apart…So my first go I’m useing model flex or poly scale paints WHAT tip set should I start my big adventure with ?? …Just spaying windows and doors(kits) and some trim pieces to start with…Jerry

Jerr:

I have a Paasche VL and use the medium tip and needle for acrylic paints. I would guess that the medium tip for the H model should work for you. Check the recommended thinning rates for the paints you will be using.

Jerr on my model H I like using the #1 for general painting like you mentioned. I know there are a bunch of folks who will say the larger ones but that’s what works for me. The best thing is to try it out and see what you like. You can paint anything just to see what you like - items include an empty water bottle , milk jug, anything paint will stick to. Paper and card stock can get saturated so I don’t like using that.

Also, I know you didn’t ask but I’ll mention it anyway, I like the 15- 20 psi range

thanks guys ,I will start with the #1 and see what happens ,I have it set at 20# but will drop to start . abit disapointed in the starter manuel that came with the kit or should I say my expectations were higher than the manuel could deliver [:(]…Jerry

The recomended tip by Paasche and Poly Scale is the #3 or medium tip for Acrylic Paints. The recomended air pressure is 18-30 psi. I usually paint at about 20-24 psi, (i am a custom painter for 20 yrs), at about 6-7 inches from the model.

Acrylic paints need to be well stirred (not shaken) and thinned to the consistency of 2% milk. Don’t forget to strain the paint, (I use stockings).

The #1 tip is minly for inks and very thin solvent paints. The #5 is for thicker stuff like pottery glazes, latex paint, etc.

Jay,

Thanks for the suggestions, that sounds good! I run an Iwata a little hotter in pressue & with solvents. It use the fine tip version, so I shoot real thin solvent paint, so I run way differently. Great suggestions ,especially if I look at something different sometime!
