It is worthy of all preservationists, and possibly the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to get the EBT running again. This is the most historically accurate heritage railroad east of Colorado. If anything should be saved it is this pik.
Sadly, I must ask where the money to pay for the work and materials will come from. Not us, the state will say, The Feds? Too busy fighting over weightier matters to allocate money on a small, but significant piece of our heritage.
Unfortunately, another case of ride 'em before they’re gone. Was lucky enough to take a side trip to the EBT and ride a steam train and handcar when I was in Pennsylvania for the NRHS convention in Scranton in 2010. Don’t put off riding your favorite trains, guys - you don’t know how long they’re gonna be there!
Anyone can go and watch the train from public property though, right? You just can’t ride it?

Too bad Bill Gates only gives money to combat AIDS in Africa and invests in CNR. Dat boy is…
Yes, it would be nice for Bill Gates to support EBT (at least a little bit). It would also be nice to take some of that money he’s spending in Africa and help combat poachers.
One train is better than no train at all. Use the window offered here to support the Friends, and the road, and donate what you can in time or cash. I generally don’t suggest any project that can’t make it on ticket sales or other private sectior revenue to make it. But this is a very special case that really deserves a shot at survival. When it’s gone, there will never be another one like it. Try to relay the Ophir Loop on the RGS, or the D&RGW Chili Line. It can’t be done.
Well, they DID relay the Georgetown Loop. But I wouldn’t hold my breath!
