Ehhh, what the-? 65 bucks for a fairly common autorack… It must be the weathered trucks.
It looks like a case of two bidders going at it without regard to the silly price they’ve run it up to. OR!, it could be a case of shilling.

DON’T bid on this guys stuff. I bought a GT from him and it was junk. It’s NOT the Walthers RTR models with the correct wheels. It’s an old kit that was put together really crappy. The side panels fell off and it DIDN’T have the correct trucks. It had trucks from some old Atheran boxcar. The correct wheels are much smaller. The wheels he had on it rubbed the bottom and also wouldn’t turn at all. He told me that he ran it before he sent it, I can’t imagine how. I had to contact Walthers and they sent me the correct wheels. But I basically had to reglue the whole thing again.
Hmm…I hope you didn’t pay THAT much for it. Hehe. It doesn’t look like you left him feedback… I would have at least left him a negative-sounding positive.

If I am reading the bid history correctly, it appears that someone is competing against himself.
whats sad is someone will prolly buy it for that…
Supposedly, it was PT Barnum that said “there’s a sucker born every minute.” If this isn’t shill bidding, here’s two minutes worth of them.
Maybe I should put mine up for bid. It’s the actual Walthers kit and made with only the original parts.
Hello all!
I may have spoken too soon! I just collected a cool $42 for a Walthers CSX ballast hopper. However, I HAVE seen those go for high prices. I guess I shoulda cleaned out the hobby shop’s CSX ballast hopper stock, oh, seven years ago.
Matt
It’s all the scale vehicles inside that make the price reasonable. [;)]

His shipping charges are resonable [:D]
64.98, for one autorack? Too rich for this Indian.
In all fairness to the seller, his opening price was $2.99! So it was the “buyers” market that drove the price up.
12 bids so there must have been some interest in it.
I gave away two of the “Big Book Of DCC” which I didn’t think was all that great of a book but I see they go for about $75.00 each on e-bay!!! My loss!!
Last week a code 83 Shinohara/Walthers “scarce” double crossover went for $90. on e-bay. I got one for $39 from Peach Creek Shops a few days later. Walthers says “in stock”
E-bay buyers sometimes get caught up in the bidding frenzy and waste good money!

It looks like shill bidding, but I don’t know…It looks like Dew was just upping his max bid over & over. If mac hadn’t bid over it, you wouldn’t see those incremental increases. Then, after mac bid over him, dew tried to beat him by 1 cent. Ebay recorded the bid, but wouldn’t allow such a small increase. Dew then bid $1 over mac’s last bid to win. Not competing against himself, just indecisive about what he wanted to bid, right up until he was outbid.

Ebay will take a fools money any day!
[#ditto][#ditto] Double ditto on that!
A fool and his money are soon separated
