One way to deal with it

This came up in the UTU Archive this morning:

[i]HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Hagerstown city officials have posted CSX’s telephone number at four railroad crossings so motorists can call the railroad to complain about the condition of the tracks.

(snip)

The city is using the signs to put pressure on CSX to repair rotten ties and sunken rails at the crossings, City Engineer Rodney Tissue said last month.

Besides listing CSX’s number, the signs warn motorists that rough tracks lie ahead.

…Especially if the RR has a routine of ignoring such conditions in said area, I really don’t find too much wrong with that idea…

We have just the opposite problem - the railroad fixes constantly. It is the city that won’t fix the 6 track crossings. And Carl knows just the crossing, too!

Maybe BNSF should post signs…
