Only two more Water Questions, I Promise

Two last water questions and I promise that will be all [:D].

I figured that I’d use Envirotex first as a base, let dry then use Liquidtex medium to make the waves…etc.

Two Questions:

  1. Is there a difference between Liquidtex products and WS water effects in terms of final appearance (since I have an old bottle of WS water effects laying around)?

  2. To make the waves, rapids…etc. do I need both Liquidtex Gloss Medium and Gloss Gel or which one do I use?

Again Many Thanks,

Do some test panels and see how they look. Don’t rely on us internet know-it-alls to much. Or if all else fails read the instructions.

I have used both Liquitex gloss gel and WS water effects. I can’t tell them apart when dry, although the WS is a little more flexible, so if you’re molding something off of the layout, it can be easier to attach if you have to bend it a bit.

Waves and rapids are best made with the gloss gel. The medium is pretty runny (more so than white glue) when you first pour it. While it is possible to wait for it to dry a bit and then tease it with a brush to make waves, it’s far easier just to brush the gel on. Dry brush a little white paint onto the gel once it’s try to simulate white caps and foam.
