Ontario Northland selling steam locomotive; may be scrapped

Not sure of the condition of said locomotive but, in 2012, to suggest that a steam locomotive go to the scrapper is totally inappropriate. A way must be found to save this engine or, at least, to ensure that any usable parts find a purpose in keeping another engine going.

Check out Northern Ontario Railroad Museum website.
isearchigive.com pays in canadian dollars.

Where is Mr. Jacobson, I hope this piece of history can be preserved, it is a shame that this is even news, the railroad should want to preserve this for themselves.

Good news: the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre has made a successful bid for 219. They are now collecting donations for transport and restoration costs.

It seems like a crime to scrap a steam locomotive in 2012, but they sure scrapped one in 2011 in Florida I believe. It was a logging engine from the Pacific Northwest.

Ridiculously sad such a loco could be used as a tourist / event train > One where it bridges all of Ontario together … North and South …

Rail the cleanest form of transportation …

No steam or vintage diesel should be scrapped, EVER!
