During a recent rain storm I had a flood in my basement becasue mysump pump failed to operate. While trying to clean up the mess, I knocked one of my coal tenders of its track and it hit the concreate floor. I dont need to tell you what happened. Anyways I broke the plastic pieces that hold the wheels and axels onto the car. Its the set of wheels that picks up power from the track to make the train sounds. Can anyone tell me where I can go to possibly purchase parts that I need to repair this car? Either online or whatever. Thanks
Try olsenstoy.com for starters. You’ll need the brand and model number from the tender, but they’ve got lots old parts for everything, some “new” but originals, not repros. In a couple of hours a bunch of guys will have added a few more sites.

That sucks! Do you happen to know which tender it is that broke? By that, I mean the part number. Is it an old tender or a fairly new one made recently?

Lionel makes die cast truck replacements with pick up rollers come two to a box . your lhs should carry them or shoul be able to get them from there distribtor .
Hi tex702,
The BEST thing to do in this situation is use some old fashioned technology, NO EMAIL, NO ON LINE, OR MAIL ORDER STORES, JUST PICK UP THE PHONE and dial (586) 949-4100 that is Lionel’s customer service line. Do not push the # for tech support, when the NICE Customer service Rep gets on the line, just tell Him/Her what part it is that you need, if you have the Lionel item# for the locomotive, it will help a lot. From what you are describing, this sounds just like the same plastic journal bearing that they use in the trailing truck on the Berkshire Jr’s ( and I am sure many other uses). My nephew had a little friend push down too hard on his Berk, and broke this piece. A simple phone call to Lionel’s Customer Service Department, and four days later it was in my mailbox.
I can not say enough good about Lionel’s Customer Service Dept. I have given Lionel trains to 5 Nephews, a Granddaughter and several Friends, in addition to my own Large Lionel collection, plus a large collection of their HO Challengers. I can’t even begin to think of all the times that they have sent me small parts like this at NO CHARGE, Lionel’s Customer Service philosophy is right back in the 50’s, when companies knew what customer service REALLY meant.
Pick up that phone, and that will be the FASTEST, EASIEST AND CHEAPEST way to get the part that You need.
