This has to be a fairly old picture, possibly older than that AGEX tank car shot that’s been floating around. Look to the left–I think this car is coupled to a caboose!
Yes it is a caboose. The crew uses it when they need to make extended shove moves.
I don’t think the air hose method will work. Now when I was a kid, we would crush a metal drink can, insert a firecracker in the hole and set it off. WAH-LA, the can was a can again. Of course with a few wrinkles. I don’t think this method would work either.
The last that I have heard is that the car would be cut up on site.
Would have to be a big, bad mother of an air compressor!
Or, better yet, put a politician on the other end of the air hose. Any candidate for statewide office should have both the pressure and the volume of hot air to pop the tank car back into shape quickly and easily. Would also keep him occupied for a few minutes, so he couldn’t screw up our lives during that period of time.
Donate the car to ‘Mythbusters’ on the Discovery Channel…I am certain they could devise some interesting ways to ‘re-inflate’ the car. Think Cement Truck[:D]
that quarry were they blew up the cement truck still there. Can you imagine that tank car filled with high explosives were is the bunker to hide in. Ever seen the movie of the Arizona going up be about the same look. LOL
