Open Day on The Crowfoot Light Railway
When we, in the uk, have a steam up or an open day or similar it tends to be an invite to others to bring their trains to run on the host line. Whereas in the US a visit to a garden railway seems to be a viewing of the hosts trains running. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Also I’m not suggesting one way is any better than the other.
You are correct in many ways though we do have “steamups” where steam fans bring their engines and trains to the host’s layout for a day of steamy fun.
folks with electric track power tend to have open houses where folks come for food, drink and comradary while enjoying the host’s trains running on the line

A very good example being the Winnegance & Quebec Railroad. I have taken the opportunity to look at some of the videos for this superb line. I think I may have got my view from researching the US Annual Garden Rairoad Conventions layout tours. Also I’ve been a little lazy searching out steamy garden railroad You tube videos and most that I’ve been hitting are the electric track power examples. Thanks for replying Eric.
I like the “ONE DAY” theme, very well done video.
When we have an open house it’s bring & run, eat and fun. What ever turns you on. As long as it’s trains in the garden steam or sparks, it doesn’t matter.
This is the first time I’ve heard of a 16mm scale 1:19. Am familiar with 1:225 narrow gauge. Seems like a good scale to work with!
Nice lay out like the live steam and running all the other trains at the same time on the same track very good job.
Great layout and tour of the RR and enjoyed seeing all the trains running

Sizewise 16mm/ft models are slightly larger than those made to G related scales. It is a bit closer to F or 1:20.3?. I think it was originally set up to ease the construction of live steam into small prototype locomotives. As a result even now most 16millers do not have track power and the locos are either live steam or battery powered manual or radio control.
If you are interested in 16mm check out our association website

There is a US group and I’m confident in suggesting the chap who runs that group is from Texas - and he probably reads this magazine.
Good luck
Also, thanks to all for kind comments.
Very nicely done! One can tell this took much planning and work to
enjoy this hobby.

would like to see the track plan for this … Very nice video.
Thanks for the kind comments Carl.
There is a hand drawn sketch plan of the railway (not to scale) on the website for the CLR. Hope it works.
