In Thurmond, W. V., there is a refurbished C&O depot that is now a visitors center to that region … something that I’ve been wanting to emulate at M&K Jct. on my N scale Allegheny & Cumberland. The last two days found me working & finishing this building that was a former depot / station & that is now a bed & breakfast hosting numerous train fans through out the summer months along the tracks … ( the brochure never did claim a good nights sleep ) sitting across from M&K’s engine facility.
CSX was gracious enough to donate the water column that it was planning on dismantling when it learned the depot was going to be refurbished. The b&b owners did a good job at making it look brand new !

Whoa!! THAT close to the tracks? Hey, I’LL stay there in a heartbeat, LOL! Really NICE job, BTW. What materials did you use?

Thanks ! Yup, that close to the tracks, just like the inspiration for it .It’s a laser kit from American Model Builders Inc. that I found online over a year ago.

Lookin’ good! Speaking of which: Did you ever stay at the Cumberland Holiday Inn?

Been to that Cumberland Holiday Inn many times. Its a great train watching place and a quick few blocks walk to the station. It almost made me forget why I went to Cumberland.
