I was recently checking NS website for job openings and they had a opening for a Conductor. I talked to my friend who is the local Train Master and he said they were opening John Sevier Yards up to 100% and they said that they were short on Yard crews. So he said they were going to move the older guys to yard work, and get more conductors for through freight. Any of you out there who work for the RR give me a guess about how many you think there gonna hire at the session. He told me between now and December they were gonna hire 60 people. Im gonna go try for it so wish me luck.

I would say that number isn’t that far off. I was reading in one of the Cincinnati OH news websites a couple weeks ago that by the end of this decade the RR’s in this area will explode with employment opportunities.
A lot of the reasoning it had to do with was forecasted gas prices, and cleaner air regulations in trying to get a lot of the trucks off the road. The baby boomers will have a lot to do with it also.

Good luck. When you go to an NS hiring session they always start promptly at 8:00am. BE THERE EARLY. Timeliness is the first test. They lock the door at 8:00 am. If you are late, you fail and no job. There are other tests. Just be aware.
