Hey everyone. I just finished editing this video of a run session we had at the California Southern Model Railroad club on New Year’s Eve and wanted to share it with you. Hope you all enjoy!
That’s pretty cool. I particularly like the freight train with the construction equipment on the flatcars.
I watched part of it. The engineer on that first train must love to blow the horn, in the middle of nowhere even! [(-D] Not a crossing to be seen.
Mike.
That seems be a problem with a lot of youtube videos. People blaring the horn, and bell the entire time.
Yep, that’s why I often watch Youtube model train video’s with the sound OFF.
And many loves blowing the horn every time they change direction … I suspect they don’t know that in normal switching that is not necessary nor does the bell need to ring constently. Of course they may not know there is a CV setting to end that unnecessay horn blowing.
A lot of times I need to mute the video due to the horn racket.
I noticed a lot of that on videos of Big Boy’s excursions, too - the whistle jockey seemed to be using as much steam for the steamboat-style whistle as was being fed through the cylinders.
The tone of that type of whistle is great, but there was too much of it out in the middle of nowhere - no crossings, no railfans…like someone who likes to hear himself talk.
Wayne
You would be surprised how many railfans were out in the middle of nowhere when the Big Boy went through.
