Any idea how many “Operation Lifesaver” locos there are? I saw a NS with Operation Lifesaver in the CSX yard this week. Do they do anythin g, other than normal locomotive jobs?

There are quite a few Operation Lifesavers, CSX owns some also. I take it this is your first time seeing a Operation Lifesaver.
I have also seen BN, CNW and UP engines with Operiation Lifesaver paint.
CNW had one,not any more.
It’s gone now! It was the CNW 6930. (SD40-2) Scrapped.
I see many Illinois Central SD40-2 and GP38-2 engines with “Operation Lifesaver” on the side.
CNW had more than one OLI locomotive, they had at least one GP38-2, MANY newer big GEs had Operation Lifesaver decals and a couple SD60s (50?) were decked out with OLI decals. Some smaller railroads have OLI logos like Paducah and Louisville. The WC had one SD45 in OLI paint (which I have seen in real life). I know just about every other IC locomotive I saw was an OLI.
I know that at least CNW engine number 8828 was an OL because it is the only CNW engine that I have a picture of.
I think all of the UP lifesaver engines that I have seen are ex-CNW as well.
Not only does csx have operation lifesaver engines but cabooses too.have one here in defiance for when they do switch moves.
stay safe
