Attention all Amtrak fans and train enthusiasts. I’m attmepting to create an opportunity to preserve a large piece of Amtrak’s history, the phase 3 paint scheme. As many of you know, p42#145 has been painted in phase 3 to celebrate the 40th anniversary. However, it sounds like the paint will be removed after the year-long campaign. If you want to see the phase 3 paint remain on p42#145, sign my petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/amtrakp42phase3
I think we should just be glad Amtrak actually gave a nod to its history and was kind enough to paint their engines in older paints. I say enjoy it for however long it lasts, and don’t worry that it may end up repainted.
If Amtrak is doing this for their 40th Anniversary, I can only imagine what could be in store when they hit their 50th.
Your best bet would be to buy 1:29th scale or 1:32nd Scale models of the Amtrak GE P42 Diesels. ]

There might not be a 50th anniversary, lol
No, it’s because passenger trains are politically popular now. They’re riding the trend. It’s also why we have National Train Day and the highly-publicized Northeast Corridor High-Speed Pipe Dream proposal.
