Do you operate your layout?
The Westport Terminal RR operates with TT&TO:

That’s the idea. Car Cards and Way Bills.
[#ditto] To which I add locomotive cards, clearance (schedule) cards and data on hazardous loads, plus slow orders and other operating restrictions.
Right now, every train operating on my under-construction layout has an order in the form, “Do not proceed beyond (kilometer/100 meter post.)” That’s because the track ends just beyond that point.

Freight car forwarding is done with Car Cards and the operation is done with a Timetable & Train Orders. I hardly every use Train Orders(most of the time we just run the sequence of trains…

On the C&HV all trains are ran as extras under CTC signalling control by the Logan,Ohio Dispatcher.Track Warrents/permits are issued by the DS by radio as needed and repeated back to the DS by the conductor.
The Penn Lake operates under CTC signals. At least it will when I finish the signal system. At present I have about half the operating signals installed, and dummy signals elsewhere.
Car routing is handled using scenario cards, car cards, and written work orders.

Technically if you are running under track warrant you don’t have 'extras" since there are no extras or regular trains under track warrant rules.

Yep, car cards, waybills, some ATC, some dark railroad depending on the stretch modeled, use a dispatch panel, radio communications.
Bob
Yep, operate the layout, and then post online reports with photos of each op session on my personal web site.

I’ve also video’d a couple of recent op sessions and posted the videos here.

I’m slowly working at getting operations going on my layout using car cards and 4-cycle waybills. So far, all of the rolling stock has cards, but only the 47 autoracks I own have completed waybills.
I’m also working on consist cards for my Amtrak passenger trains that basically tell how many coach seats, bedrooms, roomettes, baggage cars, etc. are needed for a train’s consist. Each train that I’ll be running has 10 cards with random numbers (based on the maximum of the seats, rooms, etc.) for each run. I then mix the cards and vary my consists accordingly.
