Opinions about P1K C-liner

I’m asking for opinions about the P1K C-liner. It appears to be the only HO scale C-liner available. The information I want is about the running qualities and detail level.

Hi I’ve found the detail level to be great. The loco’s were designed off the two body styles, side grill types and number of cab windows on the various CP locmotives. The bodies are correct to the locomotive numbers that were painted. They run very well and will pull anyhting I through at them. the biggest downside is that if you are a DCC guy you ahve to do a bit more hardwiring to get the decoder in as they were not made DCC ready. But they give you cut guidlines on where and what you need to do for an installation so it’s really not that big of a deal.I have two CP A’s one B and an A-B in the CN again the bodies match the prototype so go for it you won’t be dissapointed.

It is a beautiful piece and runs as well as it looks. For the price, it is a steal!

I agree with the above. I have A and B units, both styles, both CP paint schemes (in other words I have too many [:P] ). They are lovely models that you will be very pleased with. Level of detail is almost P2000 level, not your standard P1000. And they run very well.

Like everyone else here said, you can’t go wrong with them, especially at the discount prices you’ll find at Trainworld and some of the other reputable online dealers.

I have a weakness for C Liners…I think they are an awesome locomotive… I have several in CPR ( both block and script lettering) and several CN models as well in the classic green and yellow paint scheme. They are good runners and the detail is right up there also.Enjoy

I also have one in NYC livery and runs extremely well! The only thing slightly negative is that the headlight (at least in my model) seems a bit too bright with a slight yellowish/greenish tinge to it. Could be easily changed out to a different type if you’de want to.

Thanks for the replies. I went to the LHS and got a CPR C-liner in a freight bodystyle.

I have a new question. How do you remove the shell from the frame? I’m asking because there are no instructions provided on removing the shell and I want to add the detail parts.

TrueLine Trains makes C-Liners as well.

I had six Life-Like C-liners at one time, and they all ran as good as Atlas or Kato locos. The only reason why I got rid of them is that they don’t fit with the era I model in HO scale.

I was able to add all the detail parts without having to remove the shell.

To remove the shell, remove the couplers and the shell will just sort of “pop” off, it is held on with friction clips on the sides.
