What level of magnification (e.g., 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, etc.) do you find most useful? What drawbacks do you find from higher levels (and shorter distances)?
Magnification 3 works fine. High magnification isn’t useful for me since the depth of field is so small, requiring that the work be at a precise distance to be in focus.

I’ve got the 1-3/4, 2-1/2, and 3-1/2. I use the middle one the most, the “high powered” one second, and the “low powered” one least.
But I do use them all!

2.5x for general work. I have a 10x single eye piece when I need real close up, which isn’t often.
