Orange Juice Train

Anybody have info on what I call the “orange juice train”. It is a CSX unit train consisting of Tropicana refrigerators cars, usually orange, sometimes white. I see it running north and south on the CSX tracks in No. VA. Origination?, destination? frequency?

Originates in Bradenton,Fl and terminates in Kearney,NJ,I believe.

Some of them also orginate from Ft. Pierce, Fl. a second terminal was opened off the Florida East Coast, also another Northern terminal was opened in the Cincinatti, Ohio area.

Were can I see a picture of this train. Sounds interesting.

The mag did a piece about a year ago.Call them,they will send you the issue for $5 + S & H.

On the East Coast there is a North & South bound daily. The kids & I usually see the South bound from 3 to 4:30ish & the North in mid-morn. here in Richmond. The former has inter-modal mixed in at the front.

It was the “Cover Story” in the March, 2000 issue of “Trains”, on pages 36 through 43, with several pictures covering the period of 1981-1999.
