Oregon short line resumes revenue service over Coos Bay bridge

The Port of Coos Bay should take over the rest of CORP and reopen the Siskiyou line for rail shipments. The Port should use this line as a marketing tool to capture mineral shipments from Nevada. CORP has done a poor job of marketing and is not forward-looking.

Reducing the time it takes for the bridge to open and close may only be necessary if the line plans to follow the CORP policy of having the same bridge tender operate the Coos Bay Bridge and the bridge at Reedsport.

Great news. Any chance of tourist train ops in future?

I wonder if their upgrade includes tracks north of North Bend?

Its the many many small projects like this that are a big part of bringing back rail service to levels not seen in many places for many years.

I’ve seen the bridge in person. It is a grand old bridge. Too bad TRAINS doesn’t have the talent to include an actual picture of the bridge to go with the article.
