It had a long impressive history. But as stated on the news, the cost of flying between the points the Orient Express ran on is much cheaper.

Saddening also that the American Orient Express was discontinued not too long ago. AHM or Rivorossi sold an AOE train set years back. Although the cars were not accurate, it was a nice looking consist.

Psrtially incorrect. The engines are the worst thing, the cover art is actually a photoshop of 3 Funits of CSX fame, not 2 Es that Riv used. What’s sad is that AOE did that picture as a promo. There has been a blunt observation tucked into the consist, though of C&O make, not the PRR template used, and not lettered New York. It’s ahead of the main part of the train, just behind the crew support cars. There’s a diaphram there, but one can make out the backing lights so the train could actually be turned by just moving engine and baggage cars. the rest of the cars did have counterparts in the AOE, though off the top of my head, I can’t tell ya hich names are and aren’'t correct.

EDIT: Found my notes. Here’s the Blunty. it;s former AOE Monteray. Here’s another blunt ender, you pennsy guys, and it’s NOT YOURS!! MWAHAHAHAHA! according to this site the Monteray is former C&O Wolverine Club. That site is in general purty good for modelling the AOE.

Also, a rumored buyer has surfaced, a rail ventures company who has supposedly bought 26 cars to put into National Park Express service. The AOE is only in the neighborhood of 12 cars… so where’d the other 10-14 come from?

(Is contemplating modelling the AOE)

The Trans Siberian Railroad with its transcontinental train is still around crossing russia and several countries as the longest continuous ride train, it goes thru gauge changes, engine changes.
