I rode the Medina Loop April 2012 and if I recall correctly, all the coaches were full or nearly full and there were at least six or more coaches plus at least two first class cars that were sold out.
It is a wonderful way to spend a day. I would probably take it again this year if I hadn’t already bought tickets for the May 12th Nickel Plate Limited from Rocky River, OH to Bellevue, OH and back. ORHS always does an outstanding job and kudos to the Wheeling and Lake Erie for their outstanding cooperation. They don’t have to let us ride on their railroad.
I always like the spring or fall excursions on the W&LE from Orrville to Pittsburgh.
The ORHS does a fine job with their excursions. However, the last excursion I was on was barely half-full (2 years ago). I’m wondering if a reduction in the high ticket prices might attract more riders. It was sad to see 2 empty coaches in the consist that could have generated revenue if ticket prices were more reasonable.
