OT: Talking on cellphones while driving = inattentive driving

This week a woman in our town ran a stop sign while driving towards home from work.

Her car was clobbered by an oncoming vehicle.

Turns out that she was talking to her daughter on her cellphone at the time.

Her daughter heard her die in the crash.

Please don’t phone AND drive, or drive AND phone.

what has this got to do with trains?

How many “off topic” threads that you post have something to do with trains?

It has nothing to do with trains, but it is a pretty good message.

Maybe more then you think. The Old Dog remembers reading in trains that some RR’s use cell phones to control turnouts. Some RR’s may be using them for dispatching and other official business.

One has to also wonder if some crewmen may be using them for personal conversations.

Things being what they are, it is likily that cell phone use will be held partially responsible for a railroad wreck in the near future.

Have fun

A couple days ago I was walking home from work when I spotted a girl in her car who had come to a stop behind a stop sign…and she was yacking away on her cell phone. She had her window rolled down and I told her to “Stuff that cell phone up your *** and pay attention to your driving!!”

…and then she pulled out a Glock and that was the end of that.
