Other than model railroading...

Not to go off topic, but once in a while I like to take a break from model railroading and spend time with my other hobbies which include collecting 1:24 scale Franklin Mint and Danbury Mint diecast model cars, collecting McFarlane six inch sports figures and collecting old classic movies. My coworkers all call me Mr.Hobby because I’ve always got my nose in either a catalog or some web site looking for good deals on things that interest me…

So do any of you folks have anything else going on hobby wise other than model railroading ?.

In addition to my layout, I also enjoy railfanning and volunteer at the Hub City Railroad Museum in Spartanburg.

I’ve also taken up home brewing beer as a hobby and have been enjoying my latest batch of dark winter ale while running trains. I also like to write fiction and enjoy photography.

I do nature photgraphy.

My other hobby is Space, Titanic and airplanes when I’m not thinking of trains.

Other than trains, I am a sailor, musician, and Macintosh geek.

Tried sending you a PM on this but I can’t so I’ll have to answer here. The first one seemed a bit campy, a lot of ‘put the other goy in his place’ and the flash effects really put me off. But I did like the story line. The redesign of the Enterprise with a ‘hot rod’ look bugged me a bit. I give it two stars. The second one was a bit more serious with a bit of the old ‘turn Kirk loose on them’ mentality thrown in. Going after Khan helped to sell it as hyappening in an alternate timeline.

There is a form of swing dance in this part of the world known as the Carolina Shag. It is the official state dance of the State of South Carolina, and the “Home of the Shag” is right here in North Myrtle Beach. The National Shag Dance Championships are being held here this coming weekend. I don’t do that competitive stuff, but my wife & I usually go dancing twice a week and have a practice floor here at the house. The collection of blues music is related to that dance interest, and I just finished taking a class to learn how to play blues harmonica. That way, the next time Eric Clapton stops by the house, I’ll be able to jam with him!

Other than model railroading, I do: military history, and railroad photography. And I play baseball (2nd base for those who wanted to know).
