It just goes to show you what a big difference a little bit of scenery makes. I’m still working off the Plywood Central, but I’m hoping to get a little bit of scenery going when I get back home.
I offer up Divx’ Stage 6 as an alternative video site that eats YouBoob and Google for breakfast. Unlimited file size and running time, and Hi-Res Full Screen video! Here are a few examples (the first one should get Dave’s attention[:-^]):
The site had me install Firefox (didn’t want to do that; I have it on a Linux system when I nned it) and it still doesn’t show the video. I’m not a big fan of having to download and run executables to see videos or photos.
I already have Firefox, but there’s an option to deselect it in the setup. As far as Divx is concerned, it’s pretty basic and necessary to view many Divx encoded AVI files. It’s not spy or adware. The video should display once downloaded, which can take a while depending on your connection speed. File sizes tend to be 35MBs and up, but then YouTube runs 10-15MBs.
Nope… All it wants to do is download more stuff, not show the video. I’m pretty computer-savvy, but it’s too big a hassle to deal with all of the download this and agree to that. I’m sure it’s a great video, though.
They appear to be having server problems today, because I’ve been getting a “Could not download video file” error message. Service has been sporadic today. If that’s what you’re getting as well, then check back later. It is worth the effort, IMHO.
That is where the university library comes in. I sometimes run content on thier computers so that if it is a problem, THEY can clean up the crippled machine.
Nice video. I have one suggestion, though. Shorten the time between the fade out, and fade in. The way it is now, I kept thinking, after watching each clip, that was the end. There should only be about a second between each transistion. What are you using for editing software?
What restrictions? They already banned laptops from classrooms themselves. Too many viruses, trojans and non-acedemic related downloads. The library has several machines hooked up to the internet and believe me they have been to places and brought down to thier knees. Luckily everything these computers do are recorded and can be followed up on.
I remember one computer that was absolutely crammed full of current teen stars or similar hollywood content that it’s hard drive would not function until it’s files got cleaned out
