A couple of weekends ago I met up with some fellow Pentax shooters and we wandered around the Georgetown/Silver Plume area taking some shots. What trip to that corner of the world is complete without a stop at the Loop?
Alas! I still have yet to even catch the new diesel on the line (they’re having some altitude issues with injectors as I understand it), and I don’t think steam will be back until August at best. Still, there were some fun photo ops:
A brake wheel set against some tailings piles from the silver mines. Remnants of Coloradoan history.
Detail of one of the narrow gauge cars. I had to convert this one to B&W because the orange snow fence that lines the bike trail was in view. I doubt there are many things I hate more than orange snow fence!
Just a bucket of spikes.
I found this journal box opened up, and thought it was interesting.
A “de-fished” shot from the Zenitar 16mm. Kind of a fun shot that I like.
I really would have liked steam in this shot. Still, is there anything better than narrow gauge railroading in Colorado’s high country on a “Chamber of Commerce” kind of day?
Finally, some trackworkers about their business down by the Georgetown platform.
Comments and critiques always welcome!
