I haven’t gone to their site yet to see the price. How is Overland brass quality?(I’ve never bought brass before) I said when I saw the pics from the Bush library I’d buy that loco if someone produced it. I know a lot of people hated the paint scheme, but I loved it.(just got the IHC George Washington POTUS #1 SD 24 and I love that too.)
Any thoughts on Overland products?
Overland is top-notch quality brass. But you pay for it. If you can get to the george bush library while the railroad display is still up its well worth the visit. While I was displaying there I got to see the exhibit. There is a hall probably 100 feet long and the walls are lined with hundreds of overland brass locos. Every locomotive Union Pacific every had If I remeber correctly. There is also a mock-up GEVO cab with video from the cab of the real one projected on the windshields. They should have made it where you can play train sim though… oh well, i got way off topic, sorry.[xx(]
I have seen it. And it has the quality of an OVERLAND diesel. It’s a great looking model. I would have one but I wouldn’t be able to run it with Georges name on it. I would have to throw it against a wall. Other then that it’s a top quality model.
I saw it at Caboose Hobbies in Denver a couple of weeks back. It is an awesome looking model, and if the wife had not been with me…well…who knows. It comes in a wooden case with all the data and factoids. I saw one on eBay, and I think it started at around $795, which is a steal, if you can get it for that. The Overland name is synonomous with high quality brass models. Ajin does a fantastic job. I believe with some of their releases, they have released both a powered and unpowered version, one for use and one for display, respectively.
I just went to their website and checked it out. They want $960. That’s why I said that the deal through Uncle Dave’s is truly a deal. I think they MSRP for over a grand.
I still like to make it into Caboose Hobbies at least once every couple of weeks to check it out. Their brass department is awesome. We still have a great train shop in the Springs though.
Tower 55 will be plastic. just in case you didn’t know, Tower 55 is the plastic division of OMI. The T55 4141 will be $299.99. it’s due out this summer.
Just to point something out…You do all realize that Bush 41 is the father and not the son. (our current President.)
Thanks for the Tower links.[tup] $300 I can swing!
Don’t worry, I’m sure that within the next few years another manufacturer will come out with the GEVO’s and SD70ACe’s for a lower price. Before Tower 55 was known to be a company, some guy over on the Atlas forum said that there was a manufacturer that was going to come out with the SD70ACe’s. After T55 started that same guy said that the manufacturer(that was going to make the ACe in the first place) was not T55.
