I have a power pack the started blinking when a short circuit occured. I found the problem & corrected it. The overload indicated continues to blink on & off. I know there’s no short because everthing else works fine. The power pack was taken off the layout & pluged into a wall outlet on it’s own. the overload short indicator continued to blink on & off. Anyone know what the problem is??? Is the power pack now useless??? Thanks to all Hopper.
Sounds to me that the circuit breaker is locked open. You have two choices. You can open the pack up and see if you can fix it (doubtful), or get another one (recommended).
You failed to mention which power pack is giving you trouble. You stated that everything else works ok. Is that with the "defective " pack or another one? If the bad pack is still putting out power, then the overload circuit is not functioning as it should. If this is the case, simply install in line fuses in the wires of EACH output and use it. However, if it is dead, a service tech would need to look at it.
Try unplugging the pack for an hour or 2, to let everything cool down and have a chance to reset itself. It may have one of those self-resetting breakers, but may take 15-30 minutes to reset.
