Overseas highway

Right now on the History channel is the story of the overseas highway in Florida which started out as a railroad in the early 1900s.

When the railroad was wiped out in the hurricane of 1935, vehicle bridges were built on top of the railroad bridges. Serach google.com for Overseas highway from Key Largo to Key West. You can still see many of the old bridges. There is an old passenger car left from the railroad at Pigeon Key. In Key West, a building has been put up that looks like the old railroad station.

That’s a good episode. They showed a lot about how the railroad was built. I think they said a couple hundred people died on that train when the hurricane came through.
