I saw a pair of black & orange Ozark Belt locos here in Mexico, Mo. yesterday switching a cut of cars. These locos had 4 short stacks/no db’s , are these ex ICG GP 20’s or what are they ? The NS & KCS run through here now, but the Ozark Belt is a new one on me . R
A GP20 would have only one stack, might be a rebuild of some kind.
IIRC, back in the 70s MILW had some GP9s rebuilt with roots blown 645s and called them GP20s.
Not much to go on here. How about some reporting marks, road numbers, and/or a photo? I haven’t found anything on Ozark Belt except this thread.
After a brief look around the net my SWAG is that Ozark Belt is the operating company for the Ozark Valley Railroad (OVRR). Ozark Valley owns the 27 mile Mexico to Fulton Branch that likely has reopened since being closed in 2004. Cya around the net.

I know that Ozark Valley has a former Santa Fe GP7u. That could be the unit you saw. Here’s a picture of one.

BNSF GP60M yes very ex Santa Fe. From LocoNotes I got this response from rosternut: “Ozark Valley employees told me on February 6 to expect upwards of 6-7 more motors, as they will be handling pipe trains on this line. I summize they could be ex-BNSF GP7u’s like their other two, #1306 and #1362?”
This may or may not be what you saw, but here is a pic from railpictures.net that indicates a GP30 operating on the Ozark Belt:
And here I was, thinking that my name for my freelanced model railroad was unique and that no other railroad shared a name with it! =)
Oh well.

(And no, I have absolutely no relation what so ever with the “real” Ozark Belt rr. And here I thought MY OBRR was the real one, lol!)
Thanks for the photo, this is what they are. They have 2 of these working here, plus a GP 30. Maybe I’m color blind , but I still think I saw 2 black & orange locos that had Ozark Belt on the engines. I took some photos the other day, but can’t seem to get them on here. Thanks for the replies. R
Finally ! The colors are actually a dark blue & orange , I was told they are ex SF gp7u’s ?
Iknow this is an old post but I will be able to tell you on monday. I am going down to meet with the GM for an interview.
Yup all ex SF units. The GP 30 is supposed to be leaving someday.Very nice clean units by the way and well taken care of!
