P&W derailment causes NEC reroutes

It won’t happen in my lifetime, but with its dense Amtrak and commuter schedules and speeds, the NEC really needs to be dedicated passenger trackage.

Details, please.

Two things, one, REGULAR MAINTENENCE. The cars shoud’ve been taken care of well. Also, communications. The crew should’ve been trained to drive trains I meen honestly come on people!!

The NEC should be considered primarily a passenger route, but carefully maintained freight equipment - especially intermodal rail freight, using containers on flatcars and RoadRailer type equipment, should also be encouraged. In this way, there will be a viable alternative to the heavy truck congestion in interstates, especially on I-95. There is no virtually no use of the NEC during late night and early morning hours - a waste of this rail transportation resource!

Uh, Daniel, what was wrong with the maintenence, communications and/or training? There was nothing in the article.
