Do the “ends” on these gondolas actually drop or fold down?

On the real gondolas, the ends did fold down, usually to the inside of the car so that long loads like pipe or poles could be hauled. The P2K can be modeled with it up or down, I haven’t glued mine and they stay up just fine.

I have a load of long power poles that require the drop ends to be down. Have flat cars at both ends of the gondola acting as idler cars too. Makes a neat load.
