I know this has probally been discussed before and I searched for it, with no Luck, So here I go, has anyone figured out a cure for those alway disapearing little journals in the sideframes? If so please tell me the solution.

I got tired of them coming off and causing derailments so I just take them off and paint the axle ends black. The journal caps serve no mechanical purpose on the model. They don’t hold the axles in place and they also collect quite a bit of dirt that eventually starts to bind on the axles. If I decide that I don’t like the appearance of the axles in the sideframes, I just put a small piece of tape over the holes and paint it over.
Simple solution for me. The models have life time warrantees. I received new side frames with journals molded into the frames. I simply replaced the old frames. I did that before Walthers bought Life Like. Call walthers warantee department and ask if they will replace. They should.
